Brake Pad Wear: When to Replace
8 February 2026 MSCV Editorial
Brakes are your primary safety system. Understanding pad wear helps you act before performance drops.
Signs of worn brake pads include increased lever travel, squealing or grinding noises, and visible thinning of the pad material. Most pads have a minimum thickness — once reached, replacement is due.
Inspect pads during regular service. Replace in axle sets to maintain balanced braking. Always check the brake disc for scoring or excessive wear at the same time.
Safety Notes
Never delay brake pad replacement. Have braking systems serviced by a qualified technician.
